Łukasz Adamski: 14 wars with Russia gave Poland effective immunity

As you know, in recent years, primarily on the eve of the Ukrainian-Russian war, the Kremlin’s attempts to influence people’s consciousness have gained enormous proportions all over the world. How do you assess the results of the fight against Russian influence in the EU countries over the past two years? A Newssky correspondent asked Łukasz Adamski, historian, expert on international issues, and deputy director of the Juliusz Mieroszewski Dialogue Center in Warsaw.

According to the expert, each European country has a separate experience in the fight against Russian influence, so it is not worth drawing a general conclusion. Instead, the situation has improved significantly compared to how it was; better than it was before 2022.

Poland has had no problems with Russian influences for the past dozen years, with most of the few Russophiles healing their worldview in 2014, and the rest in 2022. The concern was in Germany or Austria. The history of fourteen wars with Russia—captivity from 1795 to 1918 and dependence from 1945 to 1989—gave Poland effective immunity against Russia.

The issue of Russian propaganda needs a broader discussion.
