Is Europe ready for changes in its security situation in the event of Donald Trump’s potential return to power, a Newssky correspondent asked Adam Jasser, deputy editor-in-chief of Visegrád Insight, which is a leading analytical platform in Central Europe, to comment.

There is a growing realization in Europe that a potential victory by Donald Trump may weaken U.S. commitment to European defense, although this is not a foregone conclusion.

As I understand it, are there plans to increase the production of weapons?

Hence, most countries in the EU are seeking to boost their military production, but it is not easy to overcome two decades of neglect in this area. The EU is also taking the issue to heart, proposing a $100 billion fund for strengthening the defense industry. The trouble is that some countries, notably Germany, seem at times hesitant to move decisively in this direction. Nevertheless, Europe’s capacity will eventually grow. Paradoxically, this may allow Trump to claim this as his success.
