Is Europe ready for changes in its security situation in the event of Donald Trump’s potential return to power, — the Newssky’s correspondent asked was answered by Ondrej Soukup, a journalist for Czech Radio in Prague.
I think that gradually, Europe is coming to terms with the situation.
In case Trump wins the American presidential elections, he is expected to try to adjust the US policy.
Especially when I’m talking with the European diplomats; they are working with this as a scenario.
Is there a will to create some new security policies?
There is a certain development. They are trying to develop new policies, especially in the field of defense, and basically in the framework of NATO — not this famous idea of common European defense policy inside the EU, but the problem is that these developments will take a year to reach their goals. So, in short, there are some positive developments. The question is if they will be fast enough.
