Atrocities, shells and a billion euros. How France is sabotaging European aid to Ukraine

Another wave of psychological terror is spreading on the Internet: they say, the Russians can launch a massive missile attack on Ukraine on Easter, because this nation is unfrozen. Yes, the attack may take place on a big holiday for Christians, or, as the speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yury Ignat notes, it may not take place, but we must always be ready for it. Because this is really a frozen nation, which is what it is proud of. That is why on the eve of Easter and, what is most important, in anticipation of the offensive of the Armed Forces, the Russians began to fill the network with visual confirmations of their atrocities against our defenders. The most inhuman atrocities - torture and cruel executions. It seems that the decapitation recorded on video, which the Russian public dispersed yesterday evening.

The shocking video, filled with inexpressible rage towards the occupiers, seems to have been shot last summer. And officials and experts have already given several quite rational explanations why this video, as well as other footage of decapitated Ukrainian soldiers, are appearing right now. The most common two versions: intimidate our defenders with the horrors of hypothetical captivity before the offensive, because psychological pressure is the only thing the Russians can count on; or they intimidate the Russian military themselves so that they do not surrender for fear of revenge.

One way or another, but in addition to the fact that torture and executions are another proof of the dossier of the Hague Tribunal, this is also an informational and psychological operation. And it is quite possible that it is designed for both Ukrainians and Russians. However, in addition, this is a terrible reminder for the entire civilized world: the Kremlin has not abandoned its plans to destroy Ukraine, and the immediate executors of these plans will not return from the abyss of self-reflection.

This is also a reminder that counting on "peaceful coexistence" with a terrorist state and doing business with it is a ticking time bomb that undermines peace. Accordingly, supporters of business as usual with Russia are accomplices of terrorists. Like, for example, the government of Viktor Orbán, on whose behalf the head of the Foreign Ministry of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, agreed yesterday in Moscow with the Russian Federation to extend the agreement on the additional supply of gas. In exchange, obviously, for undermining European and transatlantic unity.

This is a reminder to members of the United Nations, especially those who are members of the Security Council, that they are sitting at the table with representatives of a rogue country that sneezes at international norms and rules.

Finally, this is a reminder to our partners that the Ukrainian army, in particular in Bakhmut, protects not only Ukraine. But while they are waiting for the promised help under the slogans that regularly sound in Western Europe, "Ukraine must win" and "We are with you, as long as it is necessary", some officials and businessmen, in particular, in France, are very worried that they will not earn money for production of ammunition with funds allocated by the European Union.

We are talking about 2 billion euros allocated by Brussels from the European Peace Fund, half of which is intended to compensate EU member states for ammunition from their warehouses. The problem is that manufacturers have not yet had time to compensate for the shells already provided to Ukraine, so there are very few of them in stock. But the EU found a solution: negotiate with countries outside the European Union and then compensate them for these ammunitions by providing them with second weapons from warehouses. However, according to information referring to the European official of the Polish PAP agency, France opposed this alternative due to, European diplomats assume, lobbying by French gunsmiths. After all, we are talking about a billion euros that their companies could earn. How the French defense industry made good money recently, supplying technologies to the aggressor country. They were equipped with Russian armored vehicles that were sent to conquer Ukraine.

Therefore, on the one hand, we have obvious support and help from partners. Including from France, which provided us with the Caesar self-propelled guns, the Crotale air defense system, and much more.

And on the other hand, in this barrel of honey, as we can see, there is a big scoop of tar - in the face of arms companies that would prefer to wait until they can fulfill the order, rather than think that the shells of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are needed yesterday. Or as an attempt to earn political points, despite the potential harm to the interests of the European community, by exciting it during the war, when it should be maximally consolidated, with ancient narratives about the EU's strategic autonomy from the USA. How is President Emmanuel Macron doing after his visit to China.

And despite the fact that the leader of the Fifth Republic is well aware of the extremely critical position of Brussels regarding relations between the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation. The EU leadership, we note, although it understands that Beijing can put pressure on the Kremlin, it also understands that it is necessary to talk to China without mercy. He is pressing for him to take a clearer position instead of a toothless "peace plan". Probably, that is why the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, suddenly received a positive test for Covid-19 a few days before visiting China, the topic with the source of which, by the way, was brought up again by Washington not so long ago. But over time, when Brussels develops a line of behavior in the dialogue with Beijing after Macron's visit, Borrell should take the above-mentioned treasury video with him to China. As well as other diplomats, including those at the UN.
