Czech President Petr Pavel may receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on an unannounced visit on Sunday, May 4. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Seznam Zpravy and iDNES.cz.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

The Czech president's office publicly announced that on Sunday his residence - Prague Castle - will be closed to visitors from 11:00 to 16:30 local time.

According to media reports, this may be related to Zelensky's planned visit to the Czech Republic, but this has not been officially confirmed by either the government or the president's office.

As reported by iDNES.cz, the President of Ukraine will arrive in Prague with First Lady Olena Zelenska and will hold meetings with Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala, and Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky.

Aid to Ukraine from the Czech Republic

As a reminder, last year, Czech President Petr Pavel announced that his country had identified 800 shells that could be purchased for Ukraine. The head of state specified that the shells could be delivered within a few weeks, but funding was needed for this.

Already in June 2024, the Czech Republic reported that the first batch of artillery shells purchased on its initiative had arrived in Ukraine.

In general, it recently became known that the Czech Republic, as part of its initiative, will be able to provide Ukraine with the same amount of ammunition this year as in 2024, namely 1,5 million units.

As recently reported, this year Ukraine has already received almost 400 thousand large-caliber shells from the Czech Republic.
