Five more Ukrainian children aged 1,5 to 18 were returned from the occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk and Kherson regions, reported Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, writes radiosvoboda.org.

"One of the young men said that he could not leave the TOT on his own, so he contacted our office, which helped him leave. Currently, Ukraine, together with charitable foundations and organizations, is helping him obtain documents, find housing, and enroll in a higher educational institution," the ombudsman noted in a post on social networks.

According to Lubinets, a female soldier released from Russian captivity also contacted his office, asking for help with the return of her daughter from the occupied territories.

"Fortunately, this was also possible. And now the girl is with her mother," Lubinets wrote, expressing gratitude to Qatar for the assistance provided in returning the children.

According to official Ukrainian data, more than 20 Ukrainian children ended up in Russia and the occupied territories during the war. Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, assumed that Russia illegally removed about 150 children from Ukraine. Darya Gerasimchuk, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Children's Rights, calls the number "several hundred thousand children, that is, somewhere between 200-300 thousand."

As of November 12, Ukraine was able to return over a thousand children from the territory of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied lands, reported Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.

In March 2023, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Ombudsman for Children, Maria Lvova-Belova. They are suspected of committing war crimes — the forced deportations and displacement of the population, including children, from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
