Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the European Union has allocated about 90 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine. This was stated by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reported the RBC-Ukraine with reference to her speech at the Hudson Institute.

Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen

"Ukraine will win. But they (Ukrainians — ed.) need further support to do their work. Europe supported Ukraine with almost 90 billion dollars. Europe must play a central role in ensuring Ukraine's long-term security. We must do this together with the USA, our oldest and strongest ally," said the head of the European Commission.

According to her, of the 90 billion dollars provided to Ukraine, about 27 billion dollars are for the supply of weapons and ammunition.

Financial aid to Ukraine from the EU

In June, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the allocation of financial assistance in the amount of about 50 billion euros for Ukraine.

Later, the Council of Ministers of Economy and Finance considered the European Commission's proposals for revising the EU's multi-year budget for 2024-2027, which includes the creation of a Ukrainian fund of 50 billion euros.

To receive such funding, Ukraine must provide a recovery plan, which must consist of areas of investment and reforms, including transformations related to the integration of Ukraine into the EU.

It was previously reported that on October 3, the European Parliament approved the revision of the EU budget for 2021-2027, which contains provisions on the creation of a special Ukrainian fund of 50 billion euros.
