Thus, Ukraine will be provided with artillery shells of 155 mm caliber and, upon request, missiles. They will be jointly purchased by EU member states.
"Together with the previous decision on the rapid provision of ammunition from existing stocks, we are allocating 2 billion euros for this purpose, bringing the total EU military support to Ukraine to 5,6 billion euros," said the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
This measure will facilitate the joint procurement of ammunition and missiles from companies based in the EU or Norway, as well as the production of these ammunition and missiles.
We will remind you that on May 3, the Council of the EU approved a decision on aid for Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion euros for the joint procurement of ammunition and missiles.
At that time, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that the EU countries will start sending ammunition to Ukraine right now.
Before that, the EU countries could not agree on the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine several times.
