Japan has agreed to provide Ukraine with satellite geospatial data, including radar images from satellites. This was reported by Intelegence Online, reports hromadske.ua.

Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba

Thus, the Japanese Kyushu Space Pioneer Institute, which operates at Kyushu University, will provide the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with images from synthetic aperture radars. So far, both sides have allocated approximately two to three months to install iQPS programming and reception tools on the GUR platform.

The agreement was signed last week, and negotiations on receiving intelligence from Japan have been ongoing since late February. According to Intelligence Online, discussions on this issue became more intense after the US temporarily suspended the exchange of such data in March.

The Kyushu Space Pioneer Institute already has five observation satellites in orbit, and plans to launch two more by the end of 2026.

Japan also confirmed its promise to provide Kyiv with $1 billion in support. These funds are intended to compensate for the loss of financial support from the United States.
