Yalta without Yalta: how Trump refused to supply the Russian Federation with potatoes

Exclusive. Today, January 20, the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States took place in Washington. Kyiv is convinced that the USA will continue to be a reliable ally of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. On this occasion, panic, even hysteria reigns in the Russian political circle.

"Trump has come and is about to start acting. Therefore, it is very important to understand what consequences this may have for Russia. There are no complete idiots, we hope, who want to defeat Russia in a nuclear war in the West. Then, it is asked, why all the fuss with the war in Ukraine, sanctions, theft of our foreign assets and everything else? Will it ruin Russia economically and "let the world go with an outstretched hand"? It is unlikely to work: the same Iran and the DPRK have been living under sanctions for several decades (although they conduct a sovereign monetary policy, unlike our Central Bank). Then why?!

Don't you forget that, as the experience of 1917 teaches, to blow up Russia from the inside. And comparing that era with ours, you can't help but shudder: there are too many analogies. Several years of war, fatigue. A threat to its territory (Ukrainian UAV raids on our cities). The presence of the "fifth column" (February 1917 was financed not only by foreign countries, but also by our "first guild", which wished for "European democracy"). It is quite real - a mass uprising of migrants in the rear (analogous to the uprising of Central Asians in 1916). And the main thing is a decrease in trust in the government, fueled by propaganda ("the czar is a talentless man", "the queen works for the Germans", etc.). Well, the reason is by analogy with "they didn't bring cheap bread to Petrograd", which is how it all started. But thanks to the policy of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to increase the interest rate, everything is going to this: food prices are growing at an exorbitant rate and dissatisfaction is growing," — for example, пишет Alexander Burenkov, director of the Institute of Russian-Slavic Studies named after N.Ya. Danylevsky.

In the Russian political party, they are sad for a reason, because the growth of prices for products in Russia in 2024 set a 9-year record. The final annual inflation rate in the Russian Federation entered the top of the highest over the past 15 years: according to official statistics, prices grew stronger only in 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine (11,94%) and during the economic crisis after the annexation of Crimea and the beginning of the conflict in Donbass (by 11,35% in 2014 and 12,91% — in 2015). The same potato rose by 90,5% per hour, cabbage by 42,6%, onion by 46,5%, beets by 32,3%, butter by 35,2%; price growth for milk reached 18,2%, for sour cream - 19,2%, for cheese - 14,2%; apples became more expensive per hour by 20,2%, cucumbers by 22,1%, lamb by 23,1%.

For the third hour of "Kyiv for three days" in the Russian parliament, they propose to return food coupons for Russians. Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, proposed introducing product social cards. Such a support measure was previously announced in the Kaliningrad region. The deputy proposed to spread it throughout the country. "Such an initiative has a sound basis, as people in need will know in any case, under any circumstances, that they are provided with the appropriate minimum of products and goods that they need for life," he said.

Ukraine respects the choice of the American people, which they made in the presidential elections in November 2024. Russia's attempts to interfere in the American elections and sow chaos in the United States have failed — the change of administration in the White House is underway.

Trump shares the principle of "peace through strength", according to which the aggressor must be forced to engage in honest diplomacy. And there is no doubt that Russia will have to be forced. Today, January 20, dictator Putin, who survived the madness, once again threatened Trump in particular and the entire civilized world with threats of the "third world war". "And we see the statements of the newly elected President of the USA and members of his team about the desire to restore direct contacts with Russia, interrupted through no fault of our outgoing Administration. We also hear his statements about the need to do everything to prevent the third world war," he said.

Putin congratulated Trump on taking office during a meeting with members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, because Russia was not invited to the inauguration. At the same time, China will be represented at the highest level - in the person of the Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Han Zheng.

"We assume that the dialogue will be built on an equal and mutually respectful basis, taking into account the significant role played by our countries on a number of key issues on the world agenda, including the strengthening of strategic stability and security," Putin said. According to him, "the most important thing here is to eliminate the root causes of the crisis, which we have talked about many times, this is the most important thing."

When in January 2022, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov issued an ultimatum that NATO should "collect money" and go to the borders of 1997, Putin hoped for a "second Yalta" and redistribution of the world. However, no one is going to share anything with the Russian dictator, they don't even want to communicate with him. To use - yes, as Putin himself admits, but no more than that.

After the inauguration, Trump will increase efforts aimed at ending Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. Kyiv is convinced that the USA will continue to be a reliable ally of Ukraine in the fight against unprovoked Russian aggression.
