How Ukrainian companies use ChatGPT and other AI services: research

In March 2023, the Projector AI Lab team conducted a survey of employees of Ukrainian companies about how exactly they use artificial intelligence technologies. The survey was conducted in 150 companies, ranging in size from 10 to more than 1500 people from various industries: food, outsourcing and outsourcing companies, digital and advertising agencies. AIN.UA to lead main theses from this study.

Which AI services are used and how often

  • 64% of surveyed employees study these services on their own initiative. 15% indicated that their company allocated $100 for AI tools each.
  • 51% of companies surveyed have tried using AI and use it from time to time. 22% of companies use such services widely, and another 20% either rarely or do not use them at all.
  • 15% of respondents use AI tools of their own development, and another 24% plan or are currently working on such services for themselves.

Which professionals are most actively using AI

Among the surveyed companies, designers are the most active users of AI services: 65% of respondents indicated that such specialists have already switched to AI tools in their companies. Also among the specialists who use AI the most in Ukrainian companies:

  • copywriters (52%);
  • representatives of marketing and PR (49%);
  • team leaders (39%);
  • development engineers (21%).

What are the advantages, disadvantages and risks of using AI

Among the advantages of using AI, interviewees mention the speed of its work and the reduction of routine tasks for employees.

The risks of working with AI include:

  • errors and inaccuracies in AI answers — 20%.
  • 11% are concerned about the general security of using AI and data privacy.
  • 9% point to the disadvantage of templated results and a general decrease in the quality of work results.
  • 8% identified the probable loss of the ability to "think with one's head" as a problem.

Only 6% indicated among the risks the possibility of losing a job or other negative impact on the profession.
