For the first time in Ukraine, the biomethane plant supplied its product to gas distribution networks

"Regionalnaya Gazovaya Kompaniya" has connected the first biomethane plant in Ukraine to its networks. This is stated in the company's message on the Facebook page, writes agroportal.ua.

So, the enterprise will produce about 3 million cubic meters of gas per hour, which will be consumed by about 1500 clients — population and industry.

RGK resumed work on the connection of the biomethane plant immediately after the deoccupation of the Chernihiv region in April of last year, the entire process of connection from the issuance of technical conditions to the completion of construction lasted less than 6 months.

General Director of RGK Alexey Tyutyunnyk noted that RGK acted as an investor in this project.

"We consulted, developed design and technical documentation for connection, technical conditions and performed work on connection to the network. We can scale this experience in any region of Ukraine," he added.

As noted by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky, Ukraine has a large potential for biomethane production. Ukrainian farmers are very interested in the development of this industry and are ready to participate. The construction of new capacities or the re-equipment of existing ones will allow not only to abandon the import of gas, which will contribute to our energy security, but also to turn Ukraine into a reliable exporter of biomethane, as well as to ensure the energy decentralization of Ukraine.

"The topic of biomethane is alive and interesting, and it is very good that there are enterprises in Ukraine that are ready to participate in the development of this industry. I know that they studied the European experience, got acquainted with the work of biomethane plants in different countries. I am confident that this experience will be successfully implemented in Ukraine. For its part, the ministry contributed to the development of the legislative framework for the development of the biomethane industry," the press service of the ministry quotes Solsky as saying.
