Priority demining of agricultural lands has been completed in three regions

More than 2,3 mines have been cleared. ha of agricultural land, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine following the meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Humanitarian Demining.
"There is good news. Over the past week, 12 people were examined. hectares of agricultural land designated for priority demining. Considering the resources we have today, this is a good pace," noted First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.
According to the operators who carried out the work, the land determined by the Priority Plan for demining in Cherkassy, Dnipropetrovsk, and the controlled part of the Zaporozhye region was fully inspected. According to the results of the survey, the land in these regions does not require demining, she assured.
"We are talking about lands located in controlled territories. In regions where hostilities continue (for example, the Zaporozhye region), the list of lands for priority demining includes lands located no closer than 20 km from the line of active hostilities and which are not subject to constant shelling," the ministry clarifies.
According to the plan, inspection and further demining, if necessary, was assumed:
- in the Cherkassy region — 885 hectares;
- in the Zaporozhye region — 1,23 thousand. Ha;
- in the Dnipropetrovsk region — 2,65 thousand. Ha;
In total, 9 people are scheduled to be demined as a priority in 470 regions of Ukraine. ha of agricultural land.
"There is still a lot of work ahead, and efforts must be made to speed up the demining of the territory of Ukraine. We need equipment, primarily demining machines. The State Security Service, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is instructed to quickly establish contacts with foreign manufacturers for the purpose of purchasing or ordering such machines. In addition, we are looking for equipment in countries where such equipment has been used before and is available. Finally, we are intensifying work with Ukrainian producers who are ready to work in this direction," Yulia Svyridenko noted.
According to her, in order to speed up demining, it is also necessary to intensify the use of the latest technologies, in particular, the use of drones capable of detecting explosive objects.
During the meeting, it was noted the need to strengthen information and explanatory work by the OVA and local self-government bodies among citizens about the dangers of visiting unexplored territories and the adoption of other measures aimed at improving the safety of citizens.
