The EU announced a complete withdrawal from Russian gas

Lithuania was the first in the EU to completely refuse Russian gas. This was announced by the Ministry of Energy of the country, writes meduza.io.

The department noted that Lithuania's gas transport system has been operating without the import of Russian gas since April 1. All demand in Lithuania is met by the Klaipeda liquefied natural gas terminal.

"This is the result of a long-term consistent energy policy and timely infrastructural solutions," Energy Minister Dainius Kraivis commented on the situation.

– Gas transit through Lithuania continues to be transported for the needs of Kaliningrad, but in a different technical mode than usual, providing only the transfer of the amount of gas necessary for transit.

- The refusal of Russian gas in Europe began to be actively discussed after the start of the war in Ukraine. At the end of March, the G7 countries declared their readiness to stop buying Russian energy sources and called on other countries producing gas and oil to "act responsibly and increase supplies to international markets."
