Germany plans to allocate 2031 billion euros by 20 for the purchase of ammunition, which the Bundeswehr lacks. This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with Spiegel.

"Without munitions, the most advanced weapons systems are of no use, even if they are ready for use on test sites," he declared.

Pistorius added that the stable supply of ammunition to the German Armed Forces is a priority.

"By 2031, we must and want to invest more than 20 billion euros in ammunition," the minister said.

Ammunition shortages have reportedly "been the norm" for the Bundeswehr over the years. In this regard, artillerymen in the rear are rarely allowed to conduct training with combat shells. In most cases, the military uses training ammunition. Previously, the lack of ammunition did not cause concern in the government, but with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, this problem became more urgent.

It will be recalled that the Bundeswehr ordered several hundred thousand ammunition.

It was also reported that Germany approved the purchase of ammunition for artillery and tanks of the Armed Forces.
