Ukrainian Anna Maksimenko won gold at the World Cup in epee fencing among junior women, which is held in the Spanish city of Burgos. This was reported by the press service of the Fencing Federation of Ukraine champion.com.ua.

For the 17-year-old girl from Lviv, this is the second gold in her career and the third medal in total at the UKS after the award of the highest grade in Laupheim and bronze in Tbilisi in the 2023/24 season.

On the way to the top four, Maksymenko defeated six opponents, including in the 1/4 the American Felicity Sebastian (15:11), who did not let another Ukrainian Emily Konrad (13:15) into the top eight.

In the semi-finals, trailing 10:12, Maksymenko wrested victory from the Polish fencer Cecilia Cheslik (15:13), and in the match for gold, leading 7:0, she did not leave any chance to the multiple medalist of the European Championships among cadets and juniors Greta Gahali from Hungary ( 15:7).
