30.03.2025 0 By Writer.NSThe Czech Republic, as part of its initiative, will be able to provide Ukraine with the same amount of ammunition this year as in 2024. This is a quantity of 1,5 million units. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Czech Prime Minister Peter Fiala, quoted by The Guardian.

“The Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine could deliver at least as many shells in 2025 as last year,” Fiala said after the “coalition of the willing” summit in Paris on March 27.
The initiative was launched last year and funded by several allied countries. The Czech Ministry of Defense reported in February this year that 2024 500mm shells were among the shells provided in 155.
155-mm ammunition is needed for artillery guns that NATO countries have provided to Ukraine. Soviet-style weapons use 152-mm shells. The Czech initiative is supplying both types of ammunition.
Ammunition for Ukraine
In 2024, the Czech Republic announced the creation of an initiative to purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian army from third countries. Other allied countries have also joined the project. The initiative was created against the backdrop of delays in the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.
Already in June 2024, the Czech Republic reported that the first batch of artillery shells purchased on its initiative had arrived in Ukraine.
In January 2023, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky announced the creation of another initiative to purchase ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He called on partners to join in financing the project.
