A political agreement on the creation of a defense cluster between the governments of the Czech Republic and Ukraine was reached back in October 2022. As part of this initiative, a joint space project was launched, the goal of which was to form a monitoring satellite group, writes dev.ua.

In his blog on the resource "Military", the editor-in-chief of the Czech publication Armadni Novini reported that the basis of "Constellation" was formed by TROLL-type satellites, which will be joined by new Czech-Ukrainian devices in the future.

The first TROLL satellite, created by the Czech company TRL Space, entered orbit in January of this year. Its key feature is a built-in hyperspectral camera with a 10-centimeter lens, which allows for images of the Earth's surface with a resolution of less than 5 meters per pixel.

The next element of the group will be the Drak satellite, which is being developed by Czech companies in cooperation with Ukrainian specialists. The main integrator of the project is TRL Space.

Drak will have a different configuration compared to TROLL - it will be built on a larger platform and equipped with high-precision optical equipment. Its camera will operate in the visible spectrum and will be able to transmit images with a resolution of less than one meter per pixel.

Due to security reasons, the technical specifications of the satellite, including weight (from 50 to 150 kg) and other parameters, remain classified.
