Ukraine directly ordered artillery shells from Rheinmetall

The Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine concluded a contract with the German defense concern Rheinmetall. Ukrainian defenders will be supplied with ammunition. This is reported RBC-Ukraine with a link to the Defense Procurement Agency on Facebook.

As noted in the Agency, the contract with Rheinmetall for the supply of 155 mm caliber artillery shells was concluded in December.

"It is important for the Agency to expand direct contracting with the world's leading arms manufacturers for each critical item, as this increases the reliability of supplies. We are sincerely grateful to Rheinmetall for their contribution to the provision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said Director of the Defense Procurement Agency Maryna Bezrukova.

Ammunition deliveries are planned for the first half of 2025. They are suitable for most 155-mm guns in service with the Armed Forces.

Shells for Ukraine

It will be recalled that Western partners have provided Ukraine with a large amount of artillery that uses 155-mm shells. But only recently the country was granted licenses for the production of such shells.

In particular, on August 23, it became known that the Norwegian-Finnish company Nammo granted Ukraine a license for the production of 155-mm ammunition.

Another license for the production of projectiles was granted to Ukraine by the company KNDS/Nexter.
