Ukraine and Sweden are negotiating the purchase of CV90 BMP

The representatives of Ukraine and Sweden discussed the terms and conditions of the purchase for Ukraine of a batch of Swedish-made CV-90 BMPs. About this reported the RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The countries were represented by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and the Defense Materials Agency of Sweden.

The negotiations, chaired by Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov, took place as part of the implementation of the statement of intent between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Sweden on enhanced cooperation in the use of the CV-90 platform.

The CV-90 coalition was formed at the initiative of Sweden, it also included Denmark, Estonia, Norway, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Finland and the Czech Republic. Ukraine joined the coalition in September 2023.

During the meeting, the representatives of Ukraine and Sweden discussed the financial terms and obligations of Ukraine regarding participation in the project, as well as the terms, conditions and mechanism of purchasing the CV-90 BMP.

In January 2024, the Defense Materials Agency of Sweden received the permission of its government to conduct negotiations for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on the supply of CV-90 BMPs to Ukraine.

BMP CV-90 in Ukraine

Ukrainian resident Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine and Sweden agreed on the production and repair of CV-90 BMP on the territory of our country.

Sweden uses the AMAP armor modules of the German company IBD Deisenroth Engineering as reinforcement for its CV 9040C BMP. With a set of hinged armor (composite armor with ceramic armor elements) for modifications from CV 9040B onwards, protection is provided against a 30 mm armor-piercing feathered projectile.
