Ukrainian paramedic Yulia Paevskaya, nicknamed Tyra, was awarded the "Courageous Women of the World" award, presented by the US State Department.
"She provided medical assistance to the participants of the Revolution of Dignity in 2013, and as the head of the Angely Taira volunteer paramedic unit, she conducted tactical medical training in Donbass from 2014 to 2018," the State Department said in a statement.
"Paevskaya is best known for her work on the secret filming and export of video materials with documented atrocities committed by the Russian military in Mariupol," the document emphasizes.
For the past eight years, Paevskaya has provided first aid to wounded Ukrainian soldiers and civilians in the Donbass and taken them to hospitals.
