Ukraine became the second in the world in access to the Internet

Yes, in this we are ahead - and let the whole world be silent. Image source: politinfo.com.ua

When I was "little" and studied international relations in the USA, in the course "Developing Nations" classic example of Thailand, which, in fact, jumped over a stage in his development mass distribution of landline telephone communication, because by the time such opportunities appeared in this area, radio frequencies had already conquered minds.

The same has been true since the rapid expansion in the second half of the 2000s local networks, who displaced the dedicated lines, used them with benefit, and diverged from the "experimental" channels and the state-corporate infrastructure signal. Then - well, who remembers - the fiercest war for subscribers swept across the country in this market. And then Wi-Fi came. With him explosion of social networks, in parallel with the spread of smartphones. Wi-Fi is totally available and at monetary prices - for example, back in 2012-13 in Belgium there was nothing like it (the scale was provided by huge mobile operators). We have the second trend.

Such mass access has its negative sides, but not for the consumer. And she, politically, made it technically possible the now epic Revolution of Dignity. How and round-the-clock, "jealous" control of society over the activities of politicians, and in general, a new type of culture, nervous, but belonging to a completely different century, than naive comments to online publications in the same USA just an hour or two ago (now they investigate how, literally for pennies, it was possible to filigreely return the preferred trend - in Ukraine or the Russian Federation, such topics have long been considered "children's").

It is not surprising that this year Ukraine took second place in the world (!) on the economic availability of the Internet. And don't be embarrassed by the first place...Iran. Iran, first of all, is far from such a closed country, there is a large domestic scale and a lot of "artisans", but the prices are oriented to the pocket. And - secondly - you need to look at the statistics there, where they come from.

As for the second place of Ukraine and, accordingly, the first in Europe in terms of economic availability of the Internet, then this is not a surprise. The reverse side is the decline of traditional mass media and deep distrust of television (sometimes it is even unclear what the producers are trying to achieve and what the shareholders of the TV channels want, Charon already transported them in our country on the other side of History).

So, be rightly proud, because such cheapness of access is the curse of promising countries, and the curse of the new one:

The cost of using the Internet in Ukraine is one of the lowest in the world. This is evidenced by the studies of the consulting company BDRC Continental and the provider Cable.co.uk, Tsenzor.NET reports with reference to Espresso.TV.

The companies analyzed the cost of more than 3 thousand Internet tariffs in 196 countries of the world for the period August-October 2017 and calculated the average monthly fee for broadband Internet for each country and converted this amount into US dollars.

The average cost of Internet services in Ukraine was $5,52 per month – this is the second indicator after Iran with an indicator of $5,37.

The most expensive tariffs for the Internet in the African country of Burkina Faso - an average of $ 954,54 per month.

The first five of the rating of the cheapest Internet were also included
global cyberaggressor Russia ($9,82),
as tasty as Ukraine - Moldova ($10,71)
and Syria, where the war from the Internet spilled out onto the landscape and with the help of Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia tore the Syrian Arab Republic into small pieces ($12,15).

The average monthly cost of the Internet in the USA was $54,9, in Canada - $54, in Germany - $34,08, and in Poland - $19,03.

We are ahead. But the risks are great. Draw conclusions, biting in social networks.
