The doping test, in which traces of prohibited substances were found, was submitted even before the start of the games - on July 21 in Vladivostok. The athlete learned about the results of the test already on August 5.

Russian triathlete Igor Polyansky passed a positive test for doping. As he writes sportrbc.ru, the press service of the International Union of Triathletes reports.

It is noted that recombinant erythropoietin was found in the athlete's doping sample.

The sample was taken during the non-competitive period on July 21, when the athlete was in Vladivostok. The results were announced on August 5.

"The athlete has the right to request an analysis of the B sample and challenge the temporary suspension," the organization noted.

Igor Polyansky together with his brother Dmitry took part in the Olympic Games held in Tokyo. In the individual championship, he showed the 43rd result, and in the mixed relay, the Russian team showed the 14th result.

At the Olympics in Tokyo, the Russian national team played as a team of the Olympic Committee from Russia (ROC). This is due to World Anti-Doping Agency sanctions. According to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Russian athletes do not have the right to represent Russia at major international tournaments (Olympics and World Championships). In addition, Russians are prohibited from using the flag, anthem and other national symbols.
