The elders of the Crimean Tatar people demand an end to torture and repression against the Crimean Tatars, reports ru.krymr.com with reference to the public association "Crimean solidarity".

According to activists, the elders of Sudak, Bakhchisaray, Belogorsk, the villages of Topolevka, Kurskoye, Hrushevka, Schastlyvoe, Sovetsky village and other populated areas of Crimea issued an appeal condemning the possible use of torture against Nariman Ametov. The elders are outraged by "the lawlessness that has occurred" and in their appeal demand an end to torture and repression.

Let us remind you that on the morning of December 17, Russian security forces searched the house of Crimean Tatar Nariman Ametov in Stary Krym. He was detained, he was taken in an unknown direction. Nariman's wife, Elmaz Ametova, said that during the search, the Russian security forces claimed that her husband was "allegedly involved in the explosion in Perevalny". There is no confirmation of this information from lawyers. Later, activists reported that "Ametov's whereabouts are unknown." On the same day, Ametov returned home. Later, he stated that he was subjected to torture with the use of electric current by FSB officers.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Krym initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) due to information about the use of torture against Ametov.

The FSB of Russia does not comment on the arrest and accusations of torture of Nariman Ametov.
