The United States signed an agreement on the production of F-35 fighter jets for almost $8 billion

The US Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the American company Lockheed Martin for the production of 126 fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets worth $7,8 billion. This was reported in the Pentagon, reports liga.net.

The website of the Ministry of Defense indicates that as part of the exercise of the option to the signed agreement, the production of 81 aircraft in the F-35A modification, 26 — F-35B, and 19 — F-35C is foreseen.

In total, the US Ministry of Defense ordered 126 fifth-generation multipurpose fighters from Lockheed Martin for $7,8 billion.

The contract provides for the purchase of aircraft for the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps of the United States, as well as for allies - Great Britain, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland and Japan.

The deal, signed on April 28, 2023, is the last for the F-35 in a program to purchase about 3000 aircraft for the United States and other countries for a total of $412 billion.

REFERENCE. The F-35 is an American-made multipurpose aircraft that is part of the fifth-generation fighter aircraft lineup. An innovative model, the capabilities of which include the functions of weapons of the modern world. The main functions of the aircraft include the performance of several tasks that work for its multi-purpose classification. The goal of the developers was to create a fighter that would be able to perform a shortened takeoff and make a vertical landing, which could meet the needs of both the Marine Corps and the Air Force.
