Sweden to provide record $1,6 billion in military aid to Ukraine

Swedish Defense Minister Poul Johnson said that the Swedish Defense Procurement Administration (FMV) has investigated market opportunities for the production of defense equipment with delivery times of 0-24 months. As part of the package, Sweden will purchase new equipment in the defense industry for $912 million, writes inventure.com.ua.

It is noted that a significant part of the assistance is directed towards multilateral initiatives, coalitions within the framework of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine and the procurement of Ukrainian manufacturers for further transfer. Sweden will allocate $465 million to these funds.

The package also includes the transfer of equipment from the Swedish Armed Forces and spare parts to the previous $93 million in aid, including m/58 machine guns, ammunition, and about 100 pieces of equipment to service air bases.

To support the export of defense products to Ukraine, an export guarantee is being introduced, for which $46 million has been allocated, which will allow more companies to be involved in the supply of the necessary equipment.
