Russian Ambassador Ozerov threatens Moldova with occupation
23.10.2025Exclusive. And it requires changes in our foreign policy. Can this be considered normal? And if this is abnormal, how can we normalize relations with Russia?

"Chisinau's rejection of the policy of militarization and turning the country into an anti-Russian bridgehead, strict observance of the neutral status enshrined in the Constitution, will serve as a strong guarantee of peace and stability in Moldova. If the territory of Moldova becomes the focus of threats that directly affect the safety of our citizens (and I remind you that there are about 300 thousand of them here), we will take all the necessary countermeasures", - said Ozerov.
From the point of view of international diplomatic practice, this is abnormal behavior. Although for aggressive Nazi Russia, which spits on all laws and decency, it is the most usual. But this does not mean that Moldova should put up with such antics of the Moscow deputy ambassador. Can we put Russia in its place?
We can But for this, a chain of consecutive actions is needed, relying on our European allies.
First of all, it is necessary to constantly remember that "retaliatory measures" of Russia well known and extremely uniform. This is always a demand for occupation, and nothing more. First, a hybrid (already asked, it didn't work out), then - military actions. In the case of Moldova, due to the lack of a common border, these may be missile and drone strikes aimed at intimidating and crushing both the authorities and the population. In order for these "retaliatory measures" not to catch us by surprise, it is necessary to realize the inevitability of such demands and prepare for them in advance. So Ozerov's threats should be taken seriously - this is one, and proactive countermeasures should be taken - this is two.

The scheme of actions is also quite obvious:
- They will strengthen the army, primarily air defense. We cannot develop our air defense in a short period of time, because it is expensive and the systems are in short supply - we are asking Romania, NATO, the EU to close the airspace over Moldova, concluding agreements at the state level. Both with the deployment of air defense equipment on the territory of Moldova and with strikes from abroad - in a word, a full card-blache for the destruction of any junk that flew to us without permission.
This must be done before Russia starts airstrikes on us. Because the latter is already an intervention in the ongoing military conflict, which Europeans fear like fire. And if before that, it is simply the fulfillment of contractual obligations. Such a subtle but important difference.
The same request must be addressed to warring Ukraine: shoot down everything Russian that flies into Moldova, just as it does over its own territory. Well, you need to gradually improve your air defense, that's clear.
– Accept special law, recognizing Russia as a potential aggressor threatening the security of Moldova. At the same time, Belarus will also be thrown into the same basket - there are not many Moldovan-Belarusians, but they are there, and Belarus is, in fact, a puppet of Russia.
In this regard, within the framework of this law:
- Oblige all holders of a second Russian/Belarusian citizenship to declare it by signing up for a special account. For evasion - a criminal article with the revocation of Moldovan citizenship, a real term or a large fine and expulsion from Moldova with a lifetime ban on entry - in short, a full set of troubles.
Those Russian/Belarusian citizens who, after registering, want to renounce their second citizenship - provide assistance at the state level. Moldovans will be released from citizenship freely and free of charge, and those who want to keep the Moldovan passport, making it the only one, will be helped in every way: form lists of refusers and demand that Russia and Belarus recognize that these people no longer have any relation to them. If necessary, litigate, including in international courts. In any case, they will not leave their citizens alone with the Moscow and Minsk bureaucracy, dragging the issue to the interstate level.
In this case, it will be possible to present to Ozerov a list of registered dual citizens of Moldova and Russia, as well as Russian citizens who have received an official residence permit, and rightly says that there are no other Russian citizens outside of this list in Moldova, and there cannot be. There are criminals who are hiding from official records, whom we catch and imprison. Sit down - I will send it to Russia, pick it up.

Members of the Moldovan diaspora who live in Russia and also have a Russian passport must also be required to register for such a registration.
- Develop a project of the Russian-Moldovan treaty on the symmetrical rights of such dual citizens on the territory of Moldova and Russia, taking into account the presence of their second citizenship. Yes, there is a global practice in this regard, but, taking into account what Russia is, a separate document is needed here. It will be possible to figure it out at the same time with such an interesting question: expelling people because they do not know the language of the country where they live, is this fascism or not?
If Russia enters into negotiations, it is necessary to work out a compromise acceptable to Moldova and conclude an agreement on a mutual basis. If not, adopt new rules regarding dual citizens of Moldova and Russia (and Belarus, with which the same agreement must be concluded) unilaterally. To all who will shout about citizenships of other states - answer, что other states do not wage wars of aggression in Europe. And in the law, this difference is also prescribed.

- Accept on the same basis regarding persons with dual Moldovan-Russian (Belarusian) citizenship, persons with Russian (Belarusian) citizenship and a Moldovan residence permit, and persons without Russian/Belarusian citizenship but permanently residing in Moldova and having stable financial ties with Russian/Belarusian organizations law on foreign agents. It is forbidden to hold any elected position and work in the civil service. For those who refuse a Russian or Belarusian passport and/or stop cooperating with organizations affiliated with Russia and Belarus, quarantine for five years. Those who served under a contract in the Russian army or PMC and tried to hide it will lose their citizenship. Those who confessed honestly should be quarantined for ten years.
First, the list of organizations affiliated with Russia and Belarus must be regularly updated. Secondly, to include in it the organizations of "good" Russians and Belarusians. Because 90% of such organizations are direct creatures of the Russian/Belarusian special services, and the remaining 10% are densely packed with their agents. Just as densely as, for example, the Russian editorial office of Radio Liberty was (and probably still is!) packed with Russian agents.

And the Russian military contingent must be squeezed out of Transnistria - well, or he will kick you out if it doesn't turn out well. And cover the Transnistrian bench, on an obvious basis: no "300 thousand citizens of Russia", after the adoption of the listed measures, will not even be found there, and on the topic of those who are found, it is possible and necessary to act according to the new law. Of course, closing the PMR is a separate topic. But the legal settlement of the issue with "citizens of Russia living in Moldova" will significantly facilitate its solution.
