According to Smith, only in recent months, Microsoft's digital threat analysis group has detected several attempts by Russians to infiltrate gaming communities, including Discord, the platform on which secret Pentagon documents were previously published.

The head of Microsoft also said that his company "consults governments" regarding the fact that Russian special services use game platforms to publish and distribute information. Smith did not specify which governments the company consults with.

  • At the beginning of April, it became known about a major leak of secret documents from the Pentagon, which described the plans of the USA and NATO to build up the forces of the Armed Forces before the counteroffensive. Later, The New York Times newspaper reported on a new batch of secret documents that appeared on the Internet. According to The Washington Post, the documents were originally posted in a closed Discord chat.
  • The experts noted that the documents found in the network were partially redacted. Among other things, they overestimated the number of Ukrainians killed in the war and underestimated the losses of the Russian army. However, as "Meduza" wrote, the documents look consistent and were compiled by a person familiar with American military document management and specific vocabulary.
