Alexander Timofeev
The major-general of the Donetsk separatists was found guilty of attempted murder: as the court found, for 5 million US dollars together with the former adviser of the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov Ihor Sosnovsky, he promised to end the criminal prosecution of a Russian businessman.
At some point, the businessman decided that he was being tricked and turned to the FSB. Sosnovsky was detained and cooperated with the investigation, gave evidence against his accomplice. Timofeev denied guilt.
The prosecution asked for four years of imprisonment for him - the minimum term, taking into account the relevant article. The court imposed a sentence below the minimum possible limit, considering that the accused is a veteran of combat operations (where he has this status, in Russia or in Donetsk, it is unknown), has the title of Hero of the DNR and wounds.
Timofeev asked to release his ego to participate in the war, Kommersant writes. Based on the imposed punishment, he will not serve the actual term, as he spent it under arrest during the investigation.
