Rütte noted that the German defense industry is of crucial importance for the security of Europe and the defense of Ukraine.
In particular, in Bavaria, American and European companies jointly with NATO produce 1000 anti-aircraft missiles for Patriot air defense at a new plant.
"The German arms company Rheinmetall has just opened its first plant in Ukraine, and the second plant will soon be built. And since 2022, Rheinmetall has significantly increased ammunition production,” Rütte added.
According to him, NATO countries should increase the pace of production to ensure security for a billion citizens.
"That is why we are strengthening our support for Ukraine and are already cooperating with the European Union and other like-minded partners around the world," the Secretary General said.
