Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has proposed a plan to support Ukraine to Europe. In particular, it provides for security guarantees for Ukraine. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with a reference to the head of the Lithuanian state on the social network X.

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda

"We must act now to support Ukraine and strengthen Europe's security. Enough talk - it's time to act," Nauseda stressed.

He clarified that support for Ukraine includes:

  • real security guarantees for Ukraine — NATO membership must remain on the table;
  • Russia must be held accountable for war crimes, and sanctions must remain in place until the aggression stops;
  • urgent funding for weapons production and 10 billion euros for Ukraine's defense industry;
  • the seizure of frozen Russian assets and the imposition of tariffs on Russian/Belarusian imports;
  • accelerated accession of Ukraine to the EU by 2030.

The President of Lithuania drew attention to the fact that Ukraine's security is part of European security.

Aid to Ukraine from Europe

Recall that after Donald Trump became the new US president, Washington stopped providing military assistance to Ukraine.

Against this background, assistance from European countries has become critically important for Ukraine.

According to Politico, EU countries may prepare a military aid package for Ukraine, which would include weapons worth 6 billion euros or even more.

Ukraine also recently received a new package of military aid from Germany. In particular, the Germans transferred a large number of drones, missiles for air defense systems, and artillery.
