During a visit to the ANAD armory in Alabama, the Polish Prime Minister emphasized that security is now measured by the quality of military equipment and its availability, and announced that Poland would receive the first Abrams tanks by June of this year.

Morawiecki emphasized that this technique "is an armored curtain that will protect the eastern part of Poland", and with it "additional American business will come to the country".

The Polish Prime Minister also stated that he had talked with the American military and their leadership about the possibility of "locating enterprises in Poland that will service and repair Abrams tanks in Europe."

"But we also want the production of ammunition cores for Abrams, depleted uranium cores, the most modern ammunition, to be located in Poland," he added, explaining this by the lack of ammunition as the most urgent need.

In April 2022, Poland signed a contract for the purchase of 250 M1A2 Abrams tanks in the most modern SEPv3 version for the Polish army. The country also ordered 116 Abrams tanks, which until this time were at the disposal of the US Army.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the US would increase its military presence in Poland.

He also warned European leaders against attempts to promote a policy of "strategic autonomy" from the USA in Europe and called for the development of Europe's strategic cooperation with Washington.
