The Seimas of Lithuania adopted a resolution banning the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in the Olympic Games and other international competitions.
"Adhering to one of the main principles of Olympism, specified in the Olympic Charter - striving for sports to serve the harmonious development of mankind, with the aim of contributing to the construction of a peace-loving society that cares about the preservation of human dignity, the Seimas adopted a resolution addressed to the parliaments of all countries of the world and proposing to express its clear and decisive disagreement with any proposals, initiatives, projects and any other actions aimed at allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials to participate in the Olympic Games or any other international competitions, including with a neutral flag," the resolution says , published on the website of the Seimas.
The Seimas of Lithuania also offers the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to continue calling on all international sports federations to prevent Russians and Belarusians from international competitions.
