Occupied Crimea was on the brink of communal catastrophe

At the end of November 2021, I wrote in the material "Water supply networks of Crimea due to the occupiers have fallen into a state of man-made collapse" that due to the mismanagement of the occupying authorities of Crimea, the water supply networks in the cities and villages of the peninsula have fallen into a state of catastrophic unfitness. And on the eve of the next heating season, when the load on them increased, this became clearly visible through regular and widespread breakthroughs, accidents and emergency situations, пишет military and political observer Oleksandr Kovalenko.

In that material, I noted that from 2014 to 2021, the occupying authorities of Crimea paid absolutely no attention to the maintenance, regular repair, and replacement of the existing water infrastructure. At the same time, the occupying authorities reported annually on some ephemeral repairs, replacement of pipes and other activities that existed only on paper, but not in reality. As a result, the plumbing networks fell into total disrepair.

For example, according to the studies of the Russian Institute of Water Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, during the 8 years of occupation of Crimea, wear and tear of water supply networks on the peninsula increased to 65% and more, and wear of treatment facilities and shut-off-regulating mechanisms increased to 74%. Due to such a catastrophic wear and tear of the infrastructure, up to 70% of the prepared water supplied to consumers is lost during the delivery process! The most catastrophic situation is in Simferopol, where the number of water pipes in need of maintenance and replacement increased to 90% during the occupation!

At the same time, the so-called general director of the "Water of Crimea" enterprise, Maksym Novak, stated that water losses in the networks in the occupied Crimea amount to 50% to 70%.

And now, February 2022 is just around the corner, and the so-called "general director of the enterprise" "Krymteplokommunenergo" Eduard Selivanov, justifying himself for low-quality supplies, turns out another cover, declaring that the wear and tear of heating networks in occupied Crimea is between 70 and 90%! Moreover, the most catastrophic situation is in Yalta and Simferopol, where the wear and tear of heating networks exceeds 90%.

Thus, for 8 years of disrepair, the lack of quality control of the repair work being carried out, and the general lack of maintenance of the water supply and heating networks in general, this infrastructure of the peninsula has fallen into complete disrepair and is now in a state of man-made collapse.

Of course, the occupying authorities will not make the necessary efforts to restore the water and heating networks on the peninsula, and therefore, it can be said with full confidence that in a number of settlements and cities of the occupied Crimea, their consumption will reach 100% already this year and at the beginning of 2023.

In fact, in the next five-year period, the occupied Crimea will be in a state where pipeline water supply will simply disappear in a number of settlements and cities, and traditional heating of houses will also cease.

Alas, but it should be understood that this circumstance will in no way prevent Russia from building new military units and military towns on the peninsula, for which water supply and all necessary communications will be provided to the maximum extent possible.
