He stressed that New Zealand is steadfast in its support for Ukraine, and will continue to deploy up to 100 New Zealand troops to train Ukrainian soldiers in the UK and across Europe. To date, 53 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel have been trained with allies.

Intelligence, communications, and logistical support will also continue until December 2026.

According to Luxon, the total amount of support for Ukraine increases to $152 million and includes financial assistance and support "in kind."

New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters noted that the country is aware that the situation in Ukraine remains dynamic.

"New Zealand welcomes efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace and is following the negotiations on a potential ceasefire very closely. New Zealand is also actively involved in the UK-led discussions on options for sustaining peace should the conflict end," he said.
