Norway will send anti-aircraft missiles and demining equipment to Ukraine. Norway will also allocate 1,5 billion Norwegian kroner (about 140 million dollars) to ensure the supply of gas and electricity. This was stated by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Har Stere during his visit to Kyiv. reported the RBC-Ukraine with a link to the website of the Norwegian government.

"The Ukrainian authorities need our help to provide electricity and heat to homes, businesses and state institutions on the eve of the new winter," Stere said.

The money is channeled through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The money will go towards the repair and maintenance of critical electricity infrastructure, as well as the supply of emergency electricity in areas affected by hostilities (NOK 865 million), as well as the purchase of gas for emergency storage (NOK 635 million).

According to him, more than 60% of electricity production in Ukraine was destroyed as a result of Russia's military actions. "Ukrainians are making heroic efforts to restore electricity supply through temporary repairs, but they need international support. Norway takes responsibility and makes its contribution," said the Prime Minister.

Thanks to Norway's NOK 2 billion support for gas purchases in 2022, Norway financed about 1/3 of Ukraine's gas import needs last year.

"We don't yet know how much gas Ukraine will need to import this year, but thanks to Norway's contribution, Ukraine is better prepared for the cold winter and new attacks from Russia," Stere said.

Anti-aircraft missiles

The government decided to present IRIS-T anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. The missiles will be able to be launched from launchers provided by Sweden.

"In the past, Ukraine received significant donations in the field of air defense from Western countries, but the need for them is huge. Norway will continue to support Ukraine in its struggle for protection against Russian forces. Therefore, we will now donate anti-aircraft missiles. To date, this is one of Norway's largest donations of military equipment to Ukraine," Stere said.

Means for demining
Norway also decided to donate portable demining kits. These demining kits and explosive charges are used to clear corridors through minefields.

As noted in the message, Russian troops installed large minefields to prevent Ukrainian troops from breaking through the front line. Minefields make Ukraine's fight against Russian invasion forces very difficult. Therefore, the Ukrainian authorities requested support in order to be able to advance through the minefields.

We will remind you that Norway has approved a five-year support program for Ukraine worth NOK 75 billion (about EUR 7 billion). Earlier this year, the government announced that it was increasing funding for the program by NOK 2,5 billion, bringing the total support to NOK 2023 billion in 10.
