Germany approved the purchase of 50 Puma BMPs for 1,5 billion euros

The budget committee of the Bundestag approved the purchase of 50 Puma infantry fighting vehicles for the German army. This is reported by Spiegel, write "European truth".

The budget committee approved the purchase of 50 machines for 1,5 billion euros, which will be financed from the special fund of the Bundeswehr.

In the committee's decision, it is noted that the purchase poses certain risks for the federal budget, but given the current situation, in particular, the transfer of the Marder BMP to Ukraine, it is an urgent need. The German Ministry of Defense is asked to prepare an updated financing plan in parallel with the preparation of the 2024 budget.

The news confirmed earlier media reports citing sources that Germany was planning such an order for manufacturers Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.

The purchase of the Puma infantry fighting vehicles may indicate that the Bundeswehr has resolved problems related to technical malfunctions that became known during exercises in late 2022.
