The German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy is providing Ukraine with an additional €7,27 million for energy infrastructure repairs through the KfW Reconstruction Loan Corporation. The funds have been channeled into the Energy Support Fund, to which other international donors have also contributed since 2022.
As noted, Ukraine is using the fund to finance the purchase of spare parts and equipment to repair the destroyed energy infrastructure.
Energy truce
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky previously proposed introducing a regime of silence in the air and at sea as the first steps to resolve the war. Following the meeting of the Ukrainian and US teams in Saudi Arabia on March 11, the American side proposed a comprehensive ceasefire. Ukraine agreed to the proposal, but the Russian Federation did not give a final answer.
During their conversation last week, US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly agreed to stop energy strikes.
However, Russia continues to strike. According to Dmytro Litvy, the Ukrainian presidential communications adviser, Russia has struck at least two times against Ukraine's energy sector. In particular, Russian attacks damaged the energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava regions.
