German Bayer invests €60 million in a seed plant in Ukraine

Bayer invests €60 million in its plant for the production of corn seeds in Pochuyki (Zhytomyr region), writes agroportal.ua.

As stated in the company's announcement, with this Bayer emphasizes its commitment to Ukraine and strengthens its business in the country's plant growing industry, contributing to the recovery of the economy.

This investment includes a new seed dryer, modern agricultural field equipment, warehouses and the construction of two bomb shelters to ensure the safety of Ukrainian colleagues who operate the facility and implement this investment project in very difficult conditions.

"We are together with Ukraine. This was the case before the war, and it became even more so after it. The Bayer company has been actively working in Ukraine for many years and is devoted to the country, its people and farming communities, - said Matthias Berninger, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Science and Sustainable Development of the Bayer Company.

He explained that the investment reflects the critical importance of Ukraine in the global food supply chain.

"We will do everything possible to support Ukraine's recovery plan and protect the food security of the region and the world," Berninger added.

For reference: Bayer is an international company specializing in medical and biological sciences in the fields of healthcare and nutrition. "Bayer" in Ukraine is currently represented in the following areas: pharmaceutical division, over-the-counter drugs division, agricultural division, animal health protection department. Before the war, the company invested about €200 million in the production of corn seeds and a seed processing plant in Pochuyki.
