Private donors also joined the initiative. In particular, the NESCAFÉ brand donated UAH 3,5 million for the renovation of the premises
The workshop with plaster, fitting and training rooms is located on an area of 250 m² on the first floor of the main building of the St. Panteleimon Hospital in Lviv.
Since September, more than a hundred prostheses have been installed in the rehabilitation center, ten of which are bionic hand prostheses. According to Oleh Samchuk, general director of the First Medical Association of Lviv, the opening of the workshop will increase the center's capacity fivefold and ensure the production of 100 prostheses per month.
The workshop is designed for 10 workplaces. Among the specialists are prosthetists with many years of experience, as well as young specialists. Military personnel who lost limbs in the war also joined the team. Ilya Pylypenko is one of them.
"Ilya was seriously injured while performing the task. He is already learning to work on a 3D printer. Will make prostheses for other wounded. Thus, another dream of ours came true. Unbreakable Ukrainians help other Unbreakables," says Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
The opening of the workshop became possible thanks to the support of donors, in particular, the NESCAFÉ brand of the Nestlé company, which donated UAH 3,5 million for the renovation of the premises.
"NESCAFÉ is a brand that creates special moments in life. We want our people who have suffered from the war to be able to return to a full life as soon as possible. We continue to provide food aid to the civilian population and defenders of Ukraine, and aim to help with other pressing needs.
Now such a need is the provision of high-quality prosthetics in Ukraine. UAH 3,5 million was transferred from our brand for the renovation of the building of the UNBROKEN prosthetic laboratory, which will help Ukrainians to restore their health and quality of life," said Iryna Krekhovych, head of Nestlé's beverage business in Ukraine and Moldova.
Community support is an integral part of Nestlé's activities and is part of the program of creating shared values aimed at solving global social and economic problems.
"We have been cooperating with the Lviv City Council and regional administration for many years and always try to be close to the community in difficult times. Support for the National Rehabilitation Center established in Lviv is a continuation of our cooperation," says Volodymyr Spivak, Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations of Nestlé in Ukraine and Moldova.
In total, the Nestlé company transferred UAH 4,8 million in aid for the needs of the center:
- UAH 3,5 million is the contribution of the NESCAFÉ brand to the renovation of the prosthetics laboratory;
- The Nestlé Business Services Center in Lviv (Nestlé Business Services Lviv) transferred UAH 1,32 million for the organization of the material and technical base of UNBROKEN;
- The Nestlé Professional business installed coffee machines in the rehabilitation center, serves them free of charge and provides coffee.
