Thousands of trucks piled up at the Kerch crossing

Due to the explosion on the Krymsky bridge, traffic jams were formed on both sides of the Kerch crossing, each with about a thousand trucks. Truck drivers are forced to either wait for a ferry for several days, or go by land route through the territories of the annexed Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine, writes svoboda.org.

The Crimean bridge

As Kavkaz.Realii writes, four ferries are now operating on the crossing to the annexed Crimea, with a maximum capacity of 90 trucks and 300 people. Local authorities claim that 1,8 thousand cars and nine thousand people were transported in both directions five days after the explosion on the Krymsky bridge.

From the Krasnodar region, more than a thousand trucks are waiting for the crossing, the waiting time in the traffic jam is 3-4 days. According to the operational headquarters of Kuban, there are ten parking lots, buckwheat with stew and hot tea are distributed in the queue.

In Crimea, where more than 900 trucks are waiting for the ferry crossing, drivers were offered an alternative route: by land through the recently Kherson, Zaporozhye, and Donetsk regions. The length of the route is more than 450 kilometers, it is possible to leave both independently and as part of a convoy accompanied by the traffic police. Organized travel in the opposite direction - from Russia to Krym - is not provided.

– The explosion on the Krymsky Bridge occurred on the morning of October 8. According to the investigation, a truck with explosives, moving in the direction of the annexed Crimea, exploded on the bridge. As a result, part of the road surface collapsed and a train loaded with fuel caught fire. Several people died.

- A few days later, the FSB reported on the detention of eight suspects in the Krymsky Bridge bombing. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the explosion a terrorist attack and said that its perpetrators and customers were the Ukrainian special services. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it considers the bridge a legitimate military target, but has not officially commented on the explosion.
