French President Emmanuel Macron has called on the United States to direct its anger at the Russian president and said the only thing that needs to be done to achieve peace is for Vladimir Putin to stop lying, writes radiosvoboda.org.

“The only thing that needs to be done is one thing, and I repeated this to President Trump, with whom I spoke two nights ago, the only thing that needs to be done is for President Putin to finally stop lying,” Macron said during a visit to Madagascar, according to the French news agency AFP.

“When President Putin speaks to American negotiators, he says, ‘I want peace.’ When he addresses the whole world, he says, ‘I want peace.’ But he continues to bomb Ukraine! He continues to take lives in Ukraine!” the French president continued, commenting on Russia’s strike on Kyiv on April 24, the day after peace talks in London.

"There is only one answer that we are waiting for. Does President Putin agree to an unconditional ceasefire? The Americans proposed it, the Europeans support it. President Zelensky said 'yes'. If President Putin says 'yes', the guns will fall silent tomorrow, lives will be saved," Macron said.

He added that the United States' irritation should be directed "at only one person - President Putin" and reiterated that France's position on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is "unchangeable and will remain so."

"We will continue to defend the right of the Ukrainian people to live in peace on their territory and within their internationally recognized borders," the French president noted.

Russian troops launched a combined strike on Ukraine on the night of April 24. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the massive Russian strike targeted Kyiv and the region, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhia. Kyiv suffered the most — rescuers worked at 13 locations, and ten people were killed and 90 injured in the city.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of April 24, Russian forces carried out a combined strike on Ukraine with 215 air targets, including 70 missiles of various types. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the main target of the strike was the city of Kyiv.

President Zelenskyy stated that the massive Russian strike on Ukraine on the night of April 24 was, in part, pressure on the United States of America.

President Donald Trump criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin after Russian forces once again launched a massive strike on Ukraine overnight amid the U.S. administration's peace efforts.

"I am not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. There is no need, and the timing is very bad. Volodymyr, stop! 5000 soldiers are dying every week. Let's reach a peace agreement," he wrote on social media.

The day before, Trump stated that Russia was ready for a peace agreement, but that it would be more difficult to reach an agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
