Does China wave away from Ukraine? So this is not the same China!
07.03.2024 0 By Writer.NSExclusive. Chinese officials give a very cold reception to the ambassador of Ukraine in Beijing. Despite arguments about the need for peace talks and conflict resolution, the Chinese government practically does not listen to the Ukrainian side. Bloomberg reports.

Pavlo Ryabkin, Ukraine's ambassador to the People's Republic of China since the summer of 2023, tried to achieve about 40 meetings with representatives of various ministries and other local authorities, but his efforts were successful only in exceptional cases. Russian Ambassador Igor Morgulov, on the contrary, boasts of fruitful work during the same period.
In early March, China's Special Representative for Eurasia Li Hui (pictured) began a tour of Russia, Ukraine and European countries. It should be noted that Hui was the ambassador to Russia, and his impartiality is also questionable.
The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, only once after the start of the full-scale war, and that was by phone. During the same period, he personally met with Putin three times.
Thus, China's peacekeeping role looks extremely doubtful.
Obviously, Ukraine is seeking mediation not to that of China.
Despite the fact that the Republic of China with its capital in Taipei on the island of Taiwan is not formally recognized by the majority of the world's states, diplomatic relations with it and its involvement in the peace process look much more promising. Taiwan's economic and technological weight in the world is very high, and its efforts could have a much greater effect.
In general, it is not clear what the Ukrainian embassy is doing in Beijing, as soon as it is there in de facto isolation. Is he spending money on his content without visible effect? And what else? At the same time, the activities of Ukrainian diplomats in Taipei could bring real benefits to Ukraine. And the relocation of the entire staff of the Ukrainian embassy from Beijing to Taipei would undoubtedly have a shock effect on the Chinese Foreign Ministry. This is exactly the case when shock therapy is the only way to influence the situation.
