Kallas said she already has funding for two-thirds of her initiative for two million rounds of ammunition for Ukraine.
"We are seeing the deadliest attacks in this war. Civilians are being killed. It's been a month since Ukraine agreed to an unconditional ceasefire, and we are not seeing that from Russia. It is clear that we need to support Ukraine more, and I am pleased to see that we are already two-thirds of my ammunition initiative," Kallas said.
"But of course we have to do more," she added.
Asked what the consequences of Russia's attack on Ukrainian civilians last weekend would be for her, Kallas said the issue would be discussed by EU foreign ministers today.
"Now we must exert maximum pressure on Russia to really stop this war. Because it takes two to want peace. And it only takes one to want war. And we see that Russia really wants war. Everyone who wants the killings to stop must exert maximum pressure on Russia," the EU's chief diplomat emphasized.
Recently, the media reported that the European Commission hopes that by the end of 2025, the number of ammunition transferred to Ukraine thanks to European countries will reach two million.
As a reminder, the Czech Republic reported that as part of the so-called "Czech initiative" for the purchase of ammunition around the world, monthly supplies to Ukraine were ensured until September.
Norway has announced an additional over 400 million euros for artillery ammunition for Ukraine - the funds will be used through the "Czech Initiative" and the European Peace Fund.
