Spain joined the EU agreement on the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine

Spain announced on Wednesday that it would join the initiative approved the day before to purchase one million artillery shells for Ukraine within a year. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Spain, which is at the disposal of "European Pravda", he writes pravda.com.ua.

"After completing the necessary administrative formalities, the Minister of Defense (of Spain — ed.) signed a project agreement on joint procurement of ammunition within the framework of the European Union on Wednesday," it said.

Thus, Spain became the nineteenth country participating in the project.

As a reminder, on March 20, the Council of the European Union approved a plan to provide Ukraine with one million artillery ammunition for a total of 2 billion euros.

His goal, first of all, is to increase the supply of artillery ammunition for the Armed Forces; secondly, introduction of joint purchases of European states and acceleration of their pace to replenish own reserves; thirdly, the rapid expansion of production capacities of the European defense industry.

At the same time, the agreement was signed by Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and Norway.

As reported, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmitry Kuleba, considers the decision of the EU regarding the plan to provide Ukraine with one million artillery ammunitions a strategic step that brings victory closer.

As a reminder, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, confirmed on Monday that his country will not participate in the project.
