The Greek government is considering increasing military aid to Ukraine. This was stated by the special representative in Ukraine, permanent representative of Greece in NATO Spiros Lambridis, reported the RBC-Ukraine with reference to "Voice of America".

"This is confidential information, but there are no secrets between friends - we supply Ukraine with everything we can and everything we have been asked to supply to the level that we could," he said.

According to the ambassador of Greece, Athens continues to fulfill its debt.

“We started providing assistance long before we had any agreement on the F-35 fighter jets from the United States. This is a unilateral action by Greece. Ukraine defends its independence and sovereignty. We thought we had to give everything we could, of course, without jeopardizing our own national defense. This is what we do. We are considering the possibility of increasing our contributions in this area," he emphasized.

Greece's aid to Ukraine

Last summer, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, visited Greece. During his visit, he stated that Athens will train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The head of state also said that Ukraine is counting on Greece's air defense in the Black Sea.

It was later reported that Greece is suspending funding for programs to support and maintain Soviet-style anti-aircraft missile systems, as they may be handed over to Ukraine in the future.

It also became known earlier that the US is discussing with Greece the possibility of selling 75 artillery shells from the reserves of the country's Armed Forces. The negotiations are being held as part of Washington's efforts to replenish Ukraine's ammunition.
