The role of the Czech Republic
The publication notes that the equipment will be purchased by the Czech Republic and sent directly to Ukraine. Czech and Greek officials are negotiating the prices of these systems, and then a bilateral agreement will be signed.
Greek officials say that it is ammunition that Ukraine needs the most and that its offer will contribute to meeting the needs of Ukrainians.
What Ukraine can get
Greece has informed the officials of the European Union, who are responsible for the coordination of aid to Ukraine, that this year they can supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the following aid through the Czech Republic:
- 2000 Zuni missiles;
- 180 missiles, which were successfully used by Ukraine in anti-tank warfare and are at the top of the list of Ukrainian requests;
- 90 thousand 90-mm shells, which are also used in anti-tank warfare, as well as in anti-aircraft weapons;
- 4 million bullets;
- 70 American-made 155-mm M114 howitzers.
Ukraine has already received artillery
The publication points out that the artillery installations do come from the Greek army, but for a long time were considered unnecessary for its operational needs.
However, they are considered useful in Ukraine's confrontations on muddy terrain. This is the second batch of M114 that Greece will sell to the Czech Republic for transfer to Ukraine.
The upcoming meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Defense of NATO members
Defense Minister Nikos Dendias will take part in a meeting of NATO members and other countries providing arms to Ukraine in Germany next week.
He is expected to reiterate Greece's position that the flow of arms and ammunition must be maintained to help Ukraine survive a difficult spring.
Greece has already provided anti-aircraft missile systems and sent Soviet-made BMP-1 tracked infantry fighting vehicles in exchange for slightly more modern German-made Marder combat vehicles.
M114

Aid to Ukraine from Greece
Last summer, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, visited Greece. During his visit, he stated that Athens will train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The head of state also said that Ukraine is counting on Greece's air defense in the Black Sea.
Later, it was reported that Greece is stopping funding for programs to support and maintain Soviet-style anti-aircraft missile systems, as they may be handed over to Ukraine in the future.
Recently, the Permanent Representative of Greece to NATO, Spiros Lambridis, said that the Greek government is considering increasing military aid to Ukraine.
