"The urgent need is military aid to support the efforts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. That's why we proposed the Ammunition Act — we call it ASAP. We want to push our defense industry to increase production of the much-needed 155mm and 152mm artillery shells. And those who can should provide long-range artillery and weapon systems that can help Ukraine close the range gap with the invading forces on the battlefield,” von der Leyen said during a speech at the Globsec forum in Bratislava on Wednesday.
She also emphasized that support is also necessary for the combat training of Ukrainian forces.
"Member states are doing a lot, and we, at the European level, are also doing our part. By the end of the year, we will train 30 servicemen and servicewomen," added the head of the European Commission.
