Finland will replace Russian gas with liquefied gas
29.12.2022The first floating terminal for the processing of liquefied gas has arrived in Finland. It will allow Finland to receive gas tankers from foreign suppliers and replace it with Russian pipeline gas. This was announced on Wednesday by the Finnish gas network operator Gasgrid. In addition, liquefied gas from Finland will be delivered to Estonia, he writes svoboda.org.

Chairman of the board of Gazprom Alexey Miller
The ship-terminal Exemplar from Gibraltar docked in the Finnish port of Inkoo. Finland has signed a 10-year lease agreement. Tankers will deliver liquefied gas to Finland twice a month, the first ship is expected in January.
After Russia's military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, many countries in Europe and the world announced that they intend to reduce their dependence on Russian energy sources as soon as possible, and ideally to completely abandon them. Russia, for its part, threatens world consumers and, first of all, the countries of the European Union with the termination of supplies of its hydrocarbons.
In the summer, Russia's Gazprom stopped supplying natural gas to Europe via the Nord Stream gas pipeline, and the underwater explosion of the Nord Stream pipeline at the end of September made gas deliveries through it completely impossible. In addition, after the European Union introduced a price ceiling for Russian oil at the rate of 60 dollars per barrel, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree prohibiting the sale of oil to countries that agreed with this decision.
However, European countries do not perceive the rejection of Russian energy sources as a catastrophe. So, at the end of December, Germany announced the final rejection of Russian oil, which was delivered through the Druzhba gas pipeline, which was built back in Soviet times. The last oil refinery working with it in the city of Schwedt switched to oil from Kazakhstan and tanker oil, which will be delivered through the Polish port in Gdansk.
