Ukraine's international reserves increased by 2025% (by $5,8 billion) to $2,235 billion in March 42,380.
As noted by the NBU, such dynamics are due, on the one hand, to significant volumes of revenues from international partners, and, on the other, to a decrease in the volume of net sales of currency by the NBU on the foreign exchange market.
The government's foreign exchange accounts with the NBU received $5,980 billion. Of this amount:
- $5,172 billion — from international partners, including within the framework of the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative;
- $410 million from the placement of foreign currency government bonds;
- $399 million from the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
In addition, Ukraine received a loan of $970 million under the agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom within the framework of the ERA. These funds were not included in Ukraine's international reserves due to their limited (targeted) use.
$787 million was paid for servicing and repaying the state debt in foreign currency. In addition, Ukraine paid $729,2 million to the International Monetary Fund.
In March, compared to February 2025, the National Bank's net sale of foreign exchange decreased by 12,5%. The NBU sold $2,644 billion on the foreign exchange market.
In addition, in March, the value of financial instruments increased by $410 million due to revaluation.
Ukraine's reserves
Recall that Ukraine's international reserves as of January 1, 2025 amounted to $43,788 billion - a record level in history.
Last year, Ukraine received powerful global financial support — about $42 billion.
The NBU predicts that aid to Ukraine in 2025 will amount to $38,4 billion. The NBU predicts that the volume of reserves as of the end of 2025 will be at $40,5 billion.
